Rolex Explorer 2 or Panerai 312.....
I'm torn between these two watches. The Panerai is the 9000 in house movement. Any advice? Thanks.

Explorer II all the way. The orange GMT hand is sweet. Wish they would have included a glidelock clasp and triplock crown, but it's still an awesome piece.

First, posting here, be prepared for a landslide of "Rolex!!!" comments.
Second, one is a GMT and one isn't. If you like the GMT function, you should compare the 320 with the Explorer II. If you don't care about the GMT function, the 312 will save you some money. Third, the 312 is pretty tall, so, if you haven't yet, try it on. It's not so much the 44 diameter as it is the height with the automatic 1950 cases. Fourth, if you are anal about scratches, the finely brushed Explorer II bezel will mark much more than the 312's bezel. Five, which do you like more? |

I'm a big fan of both brands, but the 216570 wins by a landslide for me.

i have to got Exp 2 on this one. The 1950 case and the domed plexi glass make the 312 just too big IMO.

If you consider the 233, then that kills the exp2. and I have the exp2.

Explorer II without a doubt. I'm not a fan of Panerai.

Are we talking about the new 42mm exp 2? If so explorer, if not I might consider the Pam.

312, unless you can swing for a 233.

Exp 2 if we're talking one of the new ones! Good luck, both are fantastic watches!

E2 hands down. The 312 is nearly 18mm tall, and for some becomes difficult to wear after the newness has worn off. Also, Rolex build quality trumps Panerai. I'm a huge Panerai fan, but IMHO, the new E2 is the best of the new Rolexes. YMMV.

Both are nice but the EXP II would be my pick, The 312 is a tall/thick watch.

312 if it fits comfortably on your wrist. Exp II looks nice in pictures, but for me not too interesting in person.
