Rolex Datejust 2001 question

I have a Datejust that was purchased new in 2001.

I would like to change the jubilee bracelet to the newer model with solid links.

Will it fit? Can this be done?

If anyone knows, I'd greatly appreciate it.

This Internet term "hollow link" is a complete and utter misnomer all it means in the real world. Is simply this the links are made from heavy solid gold or S.steel tubing and then formed to shape. This leaves a void in the center, just like any other piece of tube.. However, the tubes are still made from solid 18Ct gold or solid SS.

The newer type or so called solid links are still machined but they are machined with holes drilled right through the metal. So in the real world they are as well technically hollow but not to the same extent. And in every day wearing would doubt if any real difference in strength or longevity of life as long as you keep them clean.

That bracelet you refer to, it appears it is not a genuine Rolex bracelet. Should you decide to go ahead with an aftermarket piece be careful if you take it in to your local AD for any type of work. They could either refuse to work on it or if they send it to Rolex for service they will change back to the original bracelet. I got quoted $3400 for a replacement Jub for my 16013..... Keep your old bracelet and change it back before you take it in.

Yes, it can be done without an issue. But the new TT bracelet will be quite pricey.

Thanks Casey - it's the 1st Rolex I bought.

The bracelet is a little loose and drooping down so I was thinking of changing it or perhaps selling mine and using the proceeds.

I would only change it with an original Rolex one.

Sure it will fit.. just like it was made for it..

A new Rolex TT solid link Jubilee bracelet runs around $9,000.00, if you can source one..

I was thinking substantially less than $9k.

I'm just trying to find a reason to wear my DJ or just keep it in the winder for my son...
