Rolex 6205

My grandmother pasted away and left me a Rolex watch. It's a model #6205 and works great. I was wondering how much it worth. I don't plan to sell it, just want to know how much I should protect it. Thanks for all the help in advance.

Im sorry to hear about your loss, it's hard to say what it's worth considering its been re-dialed and most of the watch's value is its dial. The bracelet is also aftermarket and so is the crown. Try taking it to a jeweller and remove the bracelet, take some pictures of the area between the lugs, taking off the back and photographing the case back and movement would also allow us to determine if its original or not. In either case the real value of this watch is sentimental and not monetary, as it is a family heirloom. Hope this helps

6205 can be expensive... but this one has been redialed (as pointed out earlier) and the lugs (at least from the scans provided) seem to be way over polished. These two factors would remove about 95% of those who might be interested in the watch.

You do have original hands and original bezel/insert - that in itself is worth good money to a collector.

Thanks for the help Nalk7 and Vlad, I will post more pictures. Yes the bracelet is aftermarket, I have since removed it. Vlad I do not have the origial bezel/insert, this is all I have. Again thanks for all your help, I am new to Rolex watches,

the case, hands, movement and that bezel insert is highly valuable, shame about the dial otherwise you would be holding a watch worth tens of thousands

I take back what I previously said about the crown, crown is also original. It's a shame about the dial, because that's a very rare an beautiful submariner you got there

Careful. You are about to lose that bezel insert, one of the more valuable parts remaining on the watch!

So saying he is going to keep this & doesn't want to spend a fortune on an original dial , what would you do ? Since its already a re-dial would you bring it to a dial artist and try to make it look original and wear it ? Or leave it as is ? I'm just curious what you guys recommend he does .

Nice keepsake. Very rare hands & bezel insert. Competent watchmaker can make sure the insert is secure and make sure all parts work. Options are leave as is with funky reprint, Send to a good dial guy, like Kirk Rich and have reprinted to proper specs on the original dial plate. And wear the heck out of it as it was meant to be :-) worn. Best of luck, M

Sorry to hear of the loss of your grandmother, she's left you a very special keepsake.
I would follow the advice of watchcrank above.
As far as the value I'm not sure, you might want to have it appraised, now if you're not going to do anything with it as far as restoration and after having it restored if that's what you decide to do.
