Celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the first Ascent, May 29th 1953, by British expedition members Sir Edmund Hillary & Tenzing Norgay at the RGS in London. Together with my dear friend Mike Wood, the Old Watch Stop (annex Battery station we will organize a vintage Rolex Meeting the day prior, May 28th 2013 downtown London. So if you’re interested to join us for some serious Vintage Rolex Passion including special display of original Rolex Everest watches and other icons Rolex on the 28th. Maybe you even wanna stay another day off and join us @RGS Everest celebration May 29th 2013 for a full day of special lectures, exhibition and spectacular evening session at the ballroom of the Royal Geographic Society in London, UK. Send me a message from here.

Hope to see you in London!!

interesting!

looks like it had a service, hands are changed..not a big deal finding some correct ones! moisture has patinated the radium lume to a dark color. Its a Pre Oyster like mine with 007 as last 3 digits!

Still it's first, original tropic / glass...

Thanks Philipp, had it serviced and crystal replaced, original crystal retained, the hands are the original but were in poor condition so were cleaned and re-lumed to preserve them. I understand from my mother that the bracelet was replaced in the mid 60s with a rivited expanding bracelet which it still has and is now as smooth as silk. It also still has the original Super Oyster Crown as my grandfather never had it changed. The automatic works well and it now keeps perfect time. It has a 930xxx serial number which, seems to be an early 1953 model. Would welcome any further information on the 6150.

Philipp, I was wondering about the Dr Evans watch you show in the pics. My watch looks identicial in almost every way other than yours states "offically certified chronometer" where mine just says "precision". Mine is a 6298 from 1953 with an a296 movement. I am trying to find more info about the watch but it seems to be limited. My dial also has a nice patina to it in the very center.

Any idea as to the value? If I wear it all the time it seems to lose about a min a month or roughly 2 seconds a day.
