Will you tell me your vintage watch story?
Hello forumers
I'm a writer by trade and I'm looking for a few people to share their vintage watch experiences. I'm in the process of building a watch magazine site and would like to get some real, original stories on there to give people something good to read. I'd be happy to talk about anything interesting, from your first watch love, to your current affair. From the good experiences to the bad. All the stuff that gets talked about on this forum everyday. You can be as anonymous or as open as you like. We can skype, email or just talk on the phone ... I'm easy. All I'll ask for is a short sharp interview and a wrist shot or two. I have several motivations for doing this. I like writing. I like watches. It may help me shift a few watches, so I can then go and buy some more. However, I'm also trying to create a little demo for the services of an editorial content agency I hope to launch at the end of the year. If anyone is up for it, just drop me a PM and I'll send you details of my professional experience and links to what I'm building (slowly). Thanks as always to the forum. Stuart |

Far away and long ago

Only problem is, I am not computer-savvy and it will be a little slow, since I have to get some assistance, working the machine. On top of this, English is not my first language. I started falling in love with watches, when the word 'vintage' was virtually unheard of but only 'used' or 'second-hand' watches. Ironically those used or second-hand watches of yesterday, once non-desirable, are today called vintage-watches. Then the word 'vintage-watch' was exclusively reserved for the high and mighty top-end Patek Philippe complications pocket-watches, belonging to the Packards' of the US. Even the Rolex model reference 6062 with star hour-markers and the Patek Philipe model reference 3448, a moon-phase with perpetual calendar, were looked upon as just another watch, when they appeared on the second-hand market, occasionally. Buying and wearing a used or second-hand watch was a social stigma, then. Not today, I am afraid. |
