what questions should i be asking?

Hi again,

I have been in the market for a watch, but as you know, im looking at pre-loved.

so what questions should i be asking.

1) price
2) authencity
3) authencity by RSC

what else do I need to ask.

I'm looking to either a 16233 or a 15233 (boy's size), both in a half gold.

I may even want to change the bracelet to the new bracelet with the integrated clasp

i have been quoted SG$2627 (31mm) and SG$3252(36mm) half gold. quoted over the phone, and installed.

your comments/advise please. many thanks

I'd also ask when it was last serviced.

A mechanical watch needs (or is advised to receive) service every 5th. year or so, and if the "preloved" example you consider buying is more than 5 years old, asking for service intervals is recommended since a full service (taken it is a Rolex watch) can cost you an extra 500+ US $.

Having service papers to prove RSC service carried out is a plus.

Speaking of papers, the (COSC) papers and even receipt for the watch are an even bigger plus.

Also, I'd ask if ALL parts (typically bracelet and bezel) are original and not aftermarket since you sometimes see aftermarket bezel on DJ's and DD's.

thanks. ive been offered a 1990-2000 16233 gold dial with 10 diamonds, and on a TT jubilee bracelet. for a reasonable SG$3300, minus SG$900 for my blue dial 6694.

now my problem is whether i think it is worth buying, considering that ill need a service and verification.

verification $75-100
service $300 minimum
express service $50-100

all up it will cost a minimum of SG$375 and above. this is exclusive of a new bracelet.
SG$3252

if i change to a new bracelet, it will being my total to just under SG$7000. so im not to sure if it is worth it.
