Hunting for vintage (oval) jubilee for 1601
I'm on the hunt for a replacement bracelet for my grandfather's DJ (1601 TT, black dial, serial 2,2XX,XXX). While I wouldn't mind getting a more modern version, I'd love to find a vintage oval link jubilee like the one that was originally on the watch. The old one is so stretched out it can't be recovered.
I lost out on one on eBay a couple days ago (which was tough because it had been refurbished by Michael Young and looked to be in great shape). Then I came across this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-14K-...ht_5185wt_1161 It's advertised as being for a Rolex Date (1500 or 1503), which I understand has a lug width of 19mm and not 20mm like my DJ. However, this looks EXACTLY like the original bracelet for my DJ. Is it really a different bracelet? Or just different endlinks? Any ideas? The seller makes it pretty clear that this bracelet is NOT for a DJ, but I wonder if that's just because of the endlinks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, RM |

You'll have gaps around the endlinks if you get this one. I just bought a SS that was supposed to have 20mm endlinks and it has 19mm, which do not look good.
