Wow, that is one stunning timepiece!

Congrats!

I like the red Rolex box, too! I would have expected it to come in a green box. But the red one and the outer box are of the older style. Not bad, at all, on the contrary! The old boxes are much cooler than the new ones, IMHO.

Thanks Bo, the watch was bought Dec 07 from an authorised dealer new. The serial number starts with an F so I think I was told i t's a 2005 model. Do you know if it is normal for an AD to sell a 2 year old watch as new? I know this sounds stupid but I don't know the norm when it comes to selling Rolexs and I take it they don't sell them everyday. The jewellers had to get this in from another store.

Yes, that is seen quite often, Luisa. But it is more unusual to get that box you got, but as I state, be very happy with it. Very nice box - and watch - indeed!

Strictly taken, though, your watch would need service in 3 years - and not in the normal 5 years - since it is 2 years old at the time of purchase. But frankly I don't see this as any problem. The new synthetic oils don't get stiff as easily as the old-type oils did. And during the first 2 years, no wear of the parts will have taken place since it must have only been running on an occasional basis.

I love how all of the new rolex's today look so much more solid than the past models... That hidden clasp really sets that watch off.

Agreed...even the ladies versions look like tanks. Some of the older models look a little frail.

Congrats

Your Datejust is a real beauty! I wish my two-tone had a dark dial like that instead of the champagne. It would be easier to read and the newer solid link bracelet is so much classier looking. Nice watch!!!

Whats up with the lower right hand corner of the crown on the dial?
Perhaps its only the photography?
