Newbie question! Has anyone seen chipped ceramic bezels? Can this happen?

Yes...plenty of TRF threads already available on this occurrence. Just do a forum search and you'll get an abundance of experiences on this.

Yes like most everything today hit it hard enough ceramic will chip scratch like most anything but very expensive to rectify the chips and scratches.

Ceramic inserts are touted as more scratch and fade resistant than their aluminium predecessors.
This doesn't mean they're indestructible though. Hit them hard enough at the right (wrong?) angle and they'll certainly chip and/or shatter. |

This is why I do not like the ceramic as a bezel material. Yes it resists scratches better than the painted aluminium but it is more fragile when it comes to impact. Plus it costs a fortune to replace compared to the old inserts if damage does occur. IMHO ceramic is not the right material to use for a bezel.
