A 13-Year Love Story
Thirteen years ago this month, August 2000, I traded in a couple of watches and a little cash for a Rolex Submariner 14060. I had been lusting after her for a long time, and I finally got my hands on her. I was so excited that once I got home, I took a few photos of the Sub with my 2 megapixel digital Nikon (which was a high-resolution camera at that time). I was able to dig up the photo...
I've worn the hell out of the 14060 over the past 13 years, and I still love her like it's the first day we met. In all that time, I only had to bring it in for service once, and that was only last year. It's funny to think that my beloved Sub is now about 17 years old (T serial), and that we've aged together for the past 13 years. I was 26 when I bought it, and I'll be 40 next year. Time...well, you know... Here she is today, relaxing with me on a park bench in Brooklyn Heights, dressed in her nylon summer attire. Have a great day! Dave |

"Hello," from down the street in Park Slope.
Thanks for the story. I'm strongly considering buying my first Rolex so it is nice to hear such pride and loyalty. It's a rare company whose products inspire... Sent from my GT-P7310 using Tapatalk 4 |

Its great that you have the same appreciation for her after all these years. If she could talk, she probably thank you for taking such good care of her (except the 12 years without service), lol. Awesome story, enjoy!

Great Story Dave, it's funny how most of us here remember the "birthday" of our first Rolex... mine is February 22, my last official day on duty. (I actually had it in my possion in the box several weeks prior but wouldn't allow myself to get it out, desticker it and wear it until that day.) Your Sub still looks great and should be good to go for decades more! Congratulations.
On a more WIS note I'm curious when you sent it in for service did you have it polished, where did you send it and were you happy with the results? Thank you for sharing a wonderful story of your treasured Sub.

Awesome story. Congrats!!
I lusted over owning a Rolex for more then 20 years before being in a position to buy one. I now own two. A watch is such a personal purchase when you think about it. It's something you buy just for you, no one else. No one benefits from it but you. It's more than just a time piece. If you need to know the exact time, you can easily look at your cell phone. A watch is more than that. It's intimate. It's no wonder we have such an emotional connection to them.

The thing about the subs\ SD's- is that no matter how old they are - they still look amazing watches |
