Trade Evaluation
Hi everyone. I currently own a Submariner Date (SS, black dial - 16610) and an Air King (SS, white dial - 14010). Both have original box and papers. I recently saw a DateJust II (116334) at a jeweler and fell in love with it. Would my two watches be a fair trade for a DateJust II? Am I coming up short or am I giving too much? I'm clearly not an expert and am looking for a little guidance here before pursuing this. The DateJust II I want is the SS with white gold bezel. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. And, if you need more information to provide your opinion, please let me know.

I would not trade two for one and especially if it meant giving up the Sub.
I am all for getting what you want and like to wear but I do not think this is a good deal.

Keep the Sub, sell the Airking, and save for the rest.

The DJII is a very nice watch and I would have no problem wearing it every day. That said, I don't own one and a have more than one sub. Good luck with your decision!

I had a feeling that this would be the response. Is there a reason that everyone always tells me to keep the Submariner? Is it because of how classic and iconic it is? Please help me understand the logic here. One jeweler told me that while the DateJust II is nice, it is a new design and pretty much not established - obviously, the Submariner is the opposite. Is this what you guys think?

The Sub is iconic. If you like the Datejust, then get it and wear it. You asked for help and a trade evaluation. My advice remains, I would not trade two for one and especially not the Sub.

beshannon - I didn't realize asking follow-up questions was frowned upon. More, I didn't personally ask you for additional commentary, so if I'm bothering you, feel free to not simply disassociate yourself from this conversation. I'm just trying to get additional insight on this potential deal by people who know far more than I, which requires the asking of questions. It's that simple. Thank you for your help.

If you have no interest in the watches you have, trade them for what you want. No point in holding onto dead weight
If you regret selling the Sub down the road, there is a chance you just might find one for sale. It's not as though they are rare or anything. Whatever you decide, enjoy |

I personally wouldn't trade what you have for a DJ but I think you should go with your gut. Either way, you'll have a great watch!

The trade is about right money wise IMO, however, this trade really should be more about your own desires as you will probably own the new watch for a long time. Go with your gut. Good luck...

Value wise you're fine. You just need to decide if you'd rather have the DJ2 or the Sub and AK.

I would keep the sub and trade the AK, once you get the DJII you probably won't wear the AK. I would keep the sub just to have one dress and a sports model. Whatever you decide it's a Rolex, Good Luck.

The DJII is a great watch and won't be changed for a long time. I would make this trade in a heart beat.

You have two nice watches, hold on to both of them. The DJII will be around for a long time and you will have plenty of time to save up for it.

They're offering $4,400 for the Sub and $1,500 for the AirKing. They haven't confirmed a willingness yet, but I told them this would be a no-cash deal that I'd only consider if it was a straight trade. Thoughts?
