Sell 3 to buy Daytona?
After my recent acquisition, I've come to realize that I just have too many pieces that I cannot wear them all. For a long time I thought I would never be interested in the Daytona. The price just seemed too high for a stainless sport model. And I swore up and down that I would never spend $10k+ on a watch. But now that I've spent over $10k this year for 2 pieces, it just seems like a silly restriction I put on myself. And in the $10k range, is there really a better watch? I tried looking at JLC and AP but none of them really do it for me. So as a compromise, I thought about selling 3 pieces to buy the Daytona AND at the same time this will reduce my collection size from 8 to a more reasonable 6 automatics. I'm thinking I would sell both of my Omega day-date, Omega PO6200 and PAM310. While I still like them at some level, the day-date does not get much wrist time compared to others, the PO is heavy, and I like my PAM244 more than the 310 and they look too similar that my wife can't tell the difference. Does this seem like a reasonable plan? Hopefully it'll be enough to buy a new clasp second-hand SS Daytona black dial.

I would do it in a flash. If you have tried the daytona on and can't wipe that smile off ur face then don't wait another second.

Based on your rationalization, I'd make that trade, even though I'm not a huge fan of the Daytona.

Yes me too. Sounds like the 3 watches aren't getting much wrist time, which in my book automatically means it's time to flip them. And if you're sure the Daytona will be worn regularly, then by all means. Personally, I'm not a big fan but it's your call.

I'd sell those three watches, but I'd never recommend the daytona... I could never justify buying a watch that just looks so much better on my wife then me. How about a zenith with the spectacular el primero? The apro really does nothing for you?? Or for that price range it'd be hard to find a finer watch than a chrono from GO, IMO of course

I would do the flip, but probably not the Daytona. No offense to anyone, but I think it looks like Swatch watches. And forgive me if I don't like that in a 10k timepiece. Just my HO.

The Daytona probably gets a bit more comments than my APs as it's the only watch that has so much light reflections coming off it... |

Yes, make the trade. Not because the PAM or Omegas aren't as good, but because they don't seem to fit your desire. I recently sold off many "lesser" brands to fund 1 new "good" brand. I felt odd getting rid of multiple watches in order to get 1, but in the end I was happier to have 1 watch I really liked and wear every day over a few watches I sort-of liked but rarely wore.

Just Do It
You will regret if you don't. You only need ONE PAM and I agree with your wife about identical looks. I had a few myself in the past too. Daytona is a class above those. Cheers.

Good for you. I reached the same point with my collection, too many pieces, not enough time to enjoy them all.
I sold three earlier this year to buy my Patek 5711 and have never been happier. Do it!
