SubC Revamped
I now call it a SubDweller. I like parts of the new SubC but hate others. I like the sleek look of the SD 16600 that I wear most. So I combined my favorites from the 2 and made my own (ABC WatchWerks Made it for me). They thinned out the lugs and case a bit added a classic finish w/chamfers and cut the crown guards to pyramid style. I also added a new Daytona Bracelet to the watch. What do you think?

Nice but you likely ruined any resale prospect for a future buyer.
I personally like your weight loss plan :) |

It was not about the resale. The watch could have been a total loss if they messed up.

The work looks very well done (as you would expect from ABCWW), although I prefer the original product
Well done for making it your own Hmmm... I wonder if they could fit a Triplock crown to an EXP II ...??

With the Sub C I'm happy with the standard product, but I completely understand the desire to alter to match personal taste. One of my favourite modiifcations is this 16610LV 'big crown' project www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=130204
Personally, I would love to have an Exp II 42mm with a Triplock crown. Not sure about Glidelock, as I find the Easylink clasp perfectly adequate. I would also change the black dial to true matte finish and then better match the 'phantom' hands to it

I agree with the OP..... so I replaced the crystal with one from a Sub and added a green date wheel as well.
It is reversible but as I won't be selling it then it does not come into the mix. |

Whoah! I thought I was the only one who felt like that. It's the only thing keeping me from committing to the Exp 2. I know it isn't a functional item but the aesthetics are off for me with the tiny crown.

Exactly... Rolex equiped the GMT and Daytona with a Triplock, so why not the Exp II? The size increase to 42 mm makes this even more necessary imho

I like the mod...I can't stand how one of the first things people talk about is resale value...who cares!! Nothing was mentioned about selling the watch...Again, I like it and now you have what you wanted. Looks badass!! Wish Rolex would consider bringing back the SD 4000..

oh yeah, the Sub..not sure about the changes. I like the lack of a cyclops, the other mods I'd have to see in person. I think the Sub minus he cyclops is perfect as is really.
I commend your courage in making it truly yours. |

I will try to get some better pictures of the chamfers. I think this is the way it should have been made from the factory.

Mate,
I think it looks great! Everything you have done is what I don't like about the SubC. If only they had just added the Ceramic Bezel to the old model, Perfict! Congrats, looks great. Nino. |

I think it looks pretty good.
The narrowing of the lugs and the shaping of the crown guards is quite subtle in my eyes. Actually you and I probably feel fairly similarly about the sub c. Two of the styling "issues" I had was the cyclops (none of my previous watches had one and they never really appealed to me) and the wide lugs. In the end I grew to like them (though occasionally I still yearn for narrower lugs!). Bravo for getting the watch to look the way you want and thanks goes sharing. |

I think it looks great. It does take courage to do this to a perfectly good and very valuable rolex.

I like it and love how ABC does those old style chamfers. When my Sub needs service that's probably where I'll end up sending it.

it looks awesome. subtle way to put just a bit of vintage feel to that new sub.
it would be nice if Rolex would have some options like this that could be bought/installed at time of purchase, just as with an options list on an automobile purchase. customized with Rolex warranty would be great! |

Have to agree with the comment earlier about resale - surely the key thing when you pick up a Rolex is to enjoy it, rather than worry from the word go about its resale value? Resale is always going got be hit and miss, with some inevitable depreciation no matter what, given the current and short term economy. The satisfaction got from wearing your Rolex easily offsets any drop in its residual value - buy 'em to enjoy 'em!
