A pic of an exremely rare Rolex Chronograph model no. 6234
Hey everyone
I just stumbled across a super rare vintage Rolex chronograph and I thought I should share it with you all. I have never seen anything like it before, it doesn't even say Daytona on the dial and its not the Paul Newman version. What I see is really special about it is that the tachometer and telemeter going around the watch dial are not engraved on the bezel but are inside the crystal. That's very different from the Daytona today, its similar to several IWC chronographs I've seen before. This model is the so called "Brown color change" dial Rolex from the early 1960's. My question is, has anybody ever seen or heard about these chronographs before? They must be worth a fortune today. **I cannot post the picture on here since its too large, but you can see it full size at the following link. It is a very large picture so it may take awhile to load** http://images.antiquorum.com/137/full/423.jpg Regards, Jerome

Thanks for sharing. The dial is too busy for my liking, but otherwise very nice Rolex!

I have never seen that before either. Very interesting. It is a little busy and I definitely don't like the way the sub-dials overlap the telemeter ring. They clash and it looks haphazard. Thanks for the post.

Here is another for sale in the UK.
White dial version and how good does it look! Apparently totally original. The reason it doesn't have Daytona on it is because it is about 10 years early |

Hi Mark, I was just wondering, do you know how much that white dial model in your pic is selling for in the U.K? This is just out of curiosity. I agree that it is a mighty fine looking watch indeed. I like how it combines both the qualities of a Daytona and a Milgauss.

No I don't it is P.O.A. and is well out of my league, so I haven't enquired. Here is a link to the site of the dealer http://www.thewatchguru.co.uk/Vintag...ches.asp?pn=11 it is the bottom watch. I would guess it is probably £30,000 approx just going on past experience. Mark. |

I like the white it seems to work for me, where the black almost looks like a fake. Does anyone on TRF own one of these?

Here Jerome, I made that picture a little smaller for you....
I like it, but it does kinda remind me of a Breitling....

Those are a couple of great looking chronos..
Rolex did not put Daytona on the dials until after '62, and even then it was hit-and-miss... Those babies are beauties...

I don't care for the way the dial has double printing in the 3, 6 and 9 position. It looks like someone just printed right over the chrono dials. Ref the picture on post # 16

I own a 6234 "telemeter" with beige dials , and the "anti-magnetic" write in semi-circle.
Does anyone know how it cost because when i look at other 6234 price varies from 15K€ to 150K€ depending of small details and color dials? |
