Laser Logo

Hi all
I was reading a post on the forum and someone put up a picture. There is a Rolex logo etched on the sapphire crystal. I have never heard about this. Can someone please give me more information about this?
Thanks

They've been etching the crystals with the coronet in the 6 o'clock position for around 10 years now. I believe the "green glass" Milgauss is the only model that does not have the crystal etched.

I don't know exactly when this was started but I'm sure the experts while chime in shortly. That being said it's absolutely true. At the six o'clock position the Rolex logo is etched into the sapphire crystal. Generally you have to hold your watch at different angles and at times with light coming from different locations. It's there for sure though and I think it's really cool.

That is correct. The Milgauss GV does not have the laser etched crystal. Cheers.

To see logo, my own technique is to shine a phone's LED flash light around the 12 o'clock bezel area. Sweep the light slowly down from outside, across the bezel, to the crystal. The logo should appear on the crystal 6 o'clock position, just when light hit the 12 o'clock bezel. Works best in dim or dark room.

Yes its quite hard to see on genuine Rolex but on the wongtyme type of fake watches the LEC can be seen much more easy, as its just etched on the crystal surface. The LEC on a genuine Rolex is etched into the crystal its not on the crystal surface or underneath it. Its made up of hundreds of tiny dot like bubbles set at different heights throughout the crystal, (its so it does not create a weakness in the crystal). Now it was from around 2001 on the Laser Etched Hologram started in the Crystal but not on all models at the same time. The Green crystal Milgauss do not have it,and there have been reports of service replacement crystals from Rolex not having a LEC. Plus reports of having the LEC with the S for service replacement through the LEC, today nothing is written in stone with Rolex today .

Peter,

I have checked the laser bubbles on my SD with a microscope at 100x magnification.
They all appear in focus at the same time.
This can't happen if they are at different levels through the crystal?

Well can assure they are they are right through the crystal not on surface or underneath but right through the crystal thickness.
