Hi All
New to the forum,well I have finally gone and done it! got me a new SD from my local AD, been wanting one of these watches since I was a kid! anyway after reading various threads on the forum I have a couple of questions,is there supposed to be a coronet etched on the crystal at the six o'clock position? I have looked with a magnifier but I can't see one! and I thought they came with a tool kit? dealer says no.

Drago,Congrats on the SD.If it is a new one I am pretty sure it should have the LEC,not too sure about the tool kit,Peter P.S. they are difficult to see.

Congrats! Welcome to the 4000 ft. club.

If new it will have the coronet--it's just real hard to see.
I'm not aware that Rolex stopped sending the tool kit with the SD.

Hi amd congrats, The SD comes with a wallet that contains a Dive table, extension link and a tool that has a screwdriver and pin to remove the spring bar on the clasp.

It will have the coronet but its difficult to see, view it at an angle using a 10x loupe under a bright light.

It looks like my SD does not have the coronet etchings, it's brand new as of this weekend! judging by those pictures,I should be able to see it ok with my magnifier, it's 10x as suggested not sure if I should go back to the AD?

Exactly right. You shold get the wallet with all of that stuff with it, and the coronet is definitely etched into the 6 o'clock position on the crystal.

Congrats on a great watch ... I love mine, and hope you get many years of enjoyment from yours!

Your SD, if new, should have both the laser etched crown and tool kit. I got mine last month, and both are present. Now, the SD does not have the Chapter Ring Branding (CRB) yet.

Take a flashlight and shine it down from 12:00 towards 6:00 and it should light up. Very hard to see even with a magnifier.

Thanks harogers, the flashlight tip worked! see it plain as day now! phew! just goes to show it's best getting info from the experts! now I just got to go and ask for my tool kit.

Here are some shots of mine which new in 2007. The laser etched coronet is really hard to see. I bought mine used and almost walked away from the deal as I couldn't find it, until suddenly there it was.

Also there is a shot of the so-called tool kit. It's just a little green folder thing and the only real tool is a double ended screwdriver type thing for sizing the bracelet.

Enjoy your SD. You have made the right choice.

Congrats on the SD!

How about some pics?

There are various ways to spot the LEC. You need good lighting and a 10x loupe. Look at the crystal from an angle at six o' clock, and you should spot it. You can also use the "flashlight trick": light with a small flashlight from the 12 o' clock towards the 6 o' clock position, and the LEC will literally glow up, visible to the naked eye.

I just picked one up this past weekend. I can certainly see the etching but my watch does not have the RRR etching inside the bezel. Does your watch have the RRR?
