Fat Lady No Date Dial

Hello everyone. I just picked up this 16760 from Hill St. Watch Co. and I have a question about the dial. This was listed as being made in 1987, but the dial does not say "date" after Oyster Perpetual. From what I've read, this dial should be on an 83-84 model. Is this dial not original to this watch?

I tried to confirm the date by the SN but I can't read the numbers and I don't have a magnifying glass :)

Serial number is correct approx. 1987. My thoughts someone replaced the dial. Springer should be around soon and he will give you the low down!

the "non-date" dials definitely made it into the 84XXXXX range. could be a left over? we all know how careful Rolex used to be with keeping parts correct to their serials...

Thanks for the info guys. The seller offered to put a period correct dial in the watch... Err I think I'm just going to return it.

I would not consider the dial correct based on the serial number but I wouldn't let it bother me at all.

Oh, tough one. That's a beautiful dial that looks especially great with that faded insert. But it might bug me a little if the dial wasn't correct for the serial number. Depends on the price, I guess. Good luck either way.
