Icon5 New here, you opinion on a trade

Hello all,

recently I acquired what seemed like my dream watch, but in the last few days of owning my Datejust, it just isn't me. It's a very comfortable watch, but I'm thinking its a little small for my wrist.

So, this is where you guys come in and give me a little advice

I have a nice, recently serviced 1993 Rolex Sub 16610 and of course this 2009 Datejust 116234.
both have their respectively boxes and papers and I have the service paper on the 1993 Sub.

I'm considering trading both my rolex watches for one Daytona. I'm really wanting a 18kt yellow gold cased daytona on a crocodile strap, but I would consider a two-tone daytona.

do you guys think this is a fair trade for the said watches, or am I going to be expected to add cash or ask for cash? I don't want anyone to think I'm not being fair.

what do you guys think?

Speaking personally I would not do the trade two watches for one IMHO is not a good idea.Perhaps a bit bias not a fan of the modern Daytona but you must do what you got to do only yourself can decide.

You'd have to add cash.
Do you not like the Sub anymore? Maybe sell the DJ and hunt / save for a replacement...

First of all welcome to the forum. I would try to keep the sub, save some cash to add to a future trade and take you time finding what you really like. The chase is a lot of fun.

Don't make the mistake of selling the Sub. Sell off the Datejust and save for the Daytona. You will regret selling the Sub, trust me.

You guys are awesome. Got tons of feedback in a matter of hours. I posted this same question yesterday on "another" watch forum and haven't had any feedback.

What would one expect to pay for a used daytona? I know I could at least get $9-10K for my two watches, and have seen lots of two-tone daytonas in that range... I've yet to handle a daytona, so it might not be for me once I handle one.

Here is a group shot of the watches(my wife has a few in there)

In this picture, I own the one on the right.

Trade DJ to slightly bigger DJ2 or Milgauss and keep the Sub.

Yes, I was thinking of the DjII. I've always wanted a DJ, now that I have one, it doesn't seem right. I'm going to look at the DJII model.

Get the DJ2. If you thought the DJ was small, you'll probably feel the same about the Daytona.

So, I have been wearing my new Stainless Dtejust, and have actually grown quite fond of it.
The bands IMO are much more comfortable than the oyster band. I decided to buy a two-tone datejust today to go along with my stainless.

I'm really digging them now. Very comfortable!

Only thing that bothers me is the dial. It's a classic look, but I'm going to replace it with a white faced Roman numeral dial.

His and hers;-)

Good call on the white roman dial on the TT with jubilee. That combination exudes class. I loved mine, but it was time for a change. Plus, I want to get a DD with that dial at some point and I want it to feel different when I add it in a few years.

Congrats!

From seeing your collection, it certainly appears that you have divers covered!

As has already been stated in the thread, a DJ2 might cover the size issue. Have you thought about an Explorer II?

Collection is cool..

I meant the DJ...

You went from not liking the size of the 36mm version and wanting to trade it, to going out and suddenly buying another OLDER 36mm DJ in TT with a stretched bracelet..

So now you have (2) of the same model watch that you wanted to trade in the first place.

Yes, I can see your point. I have always wanted a DJ, my wife has one and loves how comfortable it is on the wrist.

I got another because I wanted to try a hollow linked DJ. It is a 1993 era watch that was owned by a fellow doctor. He never worn it, so the band is like new. It still has the green holo sticker on the case.
So far I'm liking the two-tone DJ...
My watch case is full, so now I have a decision to make..... Time to Get another case

What you need is a DJ2 and that is IT.
