Great AD experience
I had a nice morning at a (kind of) local AD. I just acquired a 16613 last week and needed it appraised for my insurance. This AD will do that for $50 and they don't want to keep my watch or any of that other nonsense that some other ADs in the area do.
When I was there, I also asked if it was normal that the crown was so difficult to unscrew. My GMT was like butter and I've never had a sub before. They said some of the gaskets may be dry and that they would open it and take a look at it if I wanted. I said sure. I'm glad I did. The watchmaker took pics of it under the microscope and emailed them to me. He brought the watch out and showed me the movement and what was going on with it. He put it on a timeographer and pressure tested it. All at no cost to me. I didn't buy it there, just a $50 appraisal. It looks like my watch will probably be off for service though, the amplitude was low. They were so fantastic, I almost feel guilty sending it to Rikki now. Almost..... |

A good AD is worth their weight in gold...well, almost.
