Advice Requested
Hey all,
I have been a long time lurker here on the forums. I kindly request your advice. My introduction to Rolex is interesting. For much if my teenage years, I grew up reading the forum, hoping to one day have a Rolex, specifically the Rolex Sea Dweller. I worked at a terrible place one summer to save up for my first McRolex. what motivated me was the drive own a Rolex. I saved up just enough to buy a Rolex -- it wasn't a Sea Dweller, but a used 14060M. I loved that watch. I wore it all the time and he was well loved. Sadly, a day came when I needed to utilize the savings account on my wrist, and I had to put him up for adoption! Since then I purchased a 16610 since I loved the Sub and I wanted a date function. But now I find myself rarely wearing it because it's in such good condition. My new sub is clean, whereas my old no-date sub had dings and scratches and everything else you could imagine from being so well loved. I also find that I wear it less because my 16610 is so recognizable, everyone can tell its a Rolex, and that's not the vibe I wanted to give off. So here is my problem: what am I to do? Should I keep my current Rolex? Should I try to trade it in for a no-date sub? I am afraid to buy a Sea Dweller because of the perceived size difference, but since the new SD has been released, I might actually be able to try it on to see the difference. Forgive me if this has turned into a rant/question that only I can answer. Thanks! |

If you want to downplay the "I'm wearing a Rolex" try putting it on a NATO or leather strap.
If you really want the SD or SDC sell your 16610 and put the funds towards it Best of luck

Welcome to TRF. Can you post a picture or two? That may be helpful to others. I honestly wouldn't worry what others think you are wearing. If someone asks the dreaded, "is that a Rolex" question. Just tell them it's a good fake or something. Keep the 16610 and wear it and enjoy it. You can always get it polished to look like new.
