Question about warranty work

As I just purchased a new old stock watch from my AD. Naturaly it comes with rolex 2 year warranty. The watch via serial numbers is from 2006, and now discontinued. This makes it at least 8 yrs old. It seems to be keeping within COSC requirements. I am worried about the possible lack of lubrication left on critical parts, and the possibility of dried seals. Woul you wear it for 2 years and then send it to rolex if it starts going out of COSC standards, or should I send it in now? Appreciate your help.

I would send it in now. In fact I would (well it is kind of too late now) have made that part of the deal. Make the AD send it to the RSC for a service before I take possesion of it.

I did that with a new old stock P serial number RG Day Date. The AD agreed that it needed to be serviced. We agreed on a price and they sent it to and paid for the service at the RSC.

This would have been ideal

That said if you have to pay I would just wear it and enjoy and not worry about it, congrats

Since it is still under warranty, it should be covered right?

Btw. A pic can be seen on my previous post. Love it!

The warranty will cover any malfunctions but not a service.

I assume the answer is yes...

Do they recheck the water-resistance again prior to sending it back? Even if you send it in for a regulation check/problem?

Will the watch you mention be this one?

The procedure at RSC would include pressure test after opening and then closing case again. At an AD it should, too, but depends on their watchmaker's diligence to safe practices.

If it were mine, I would send it in to Rolex for a complete check and overhawl. Then you know exactly what you've got.

You said it came with a 2 year warranty from Rolex? Rolex would not give a 2 year warranty unless it was new, or just serviced. You might want to ask your AD if it was recently serviced by Rolex...
