Dinky Rolex Box for Cosmograph Daytona

Just purchased a new Daytona from my local AD. Love the watch! I did not love the box that came with it. Isn't the purpose of slot in the lid for storing the warranty card, sleeve and booklets? They don't fit in there with the small box.

This seems to me to be uncharacteristic for Rolex, famous for meticulous detail. Have I got it wrong? Went back to the dealer and she explained how there are three different size boxes and how they are assigned base on features on the watch. Anyway, she swapped out my small box for the medium box so now I am happy.

My question to members, did you get a small box? Does it meet your expectations for Rolex?

Yeah the box for my Daytona is the small one too and the cards etc don't fit

I realize it's just a box but it should be able to house all of your paperwork safely

I hope my answer is a little more helpful than the first you got...yes I agree the box is small. However the booklet is packed on top of the box not in the pocket in the lid. Still compared to Panerai the box is a bit weak I must admit. Enjoy!

The purchase of my SS Daytona back in 2010 came with a medium sized box, the same one that my TT Datejusts and Yacht-Master SS/Platinum came in. I was a little surprised at that time as I thought the small boxes were to be used of all SS watches with the exception of the SD and DSSD models.

Great point! I'm not going to wear mine either. I'll certainly soon forget this slightly disappointing moment over years of Rolex experience.

Not so sure I agree. That is how my AD delivered the watch, with the booklet packed on top of the green box, yet still within the outer cardboard box. However when she did this, the outer cardboard box lid did not quite slide all the way down so that the cardboard outer sleeve would not fit over the whole arrangement. So she threw away the outer sleeve, thinking I would not notice. Wrong!
Okay, I think I may be a little anal - but it was a lot of money so I expect things to be just right. As I said in the original post, she traded me up to the medium box, so I'm happy. One of the privileges of buying from the AD and paying too much.

What model did you buy SS,TT, WG, YG?? When you think about it if you got the SS it almost costs the same as the new SD-4000, as a matter of fact you could probably get a SS 16520 from a trusted seller for the same price as a SD-4000 at an AD (with tax etc.).

It has been said before, but I'll reiterate unless you wear the box on your neck with a chain it's an inconsequential part of the watch.

You are not being anal about expecting the proper and complete packaging for a watch that you paid around $12K for (sorry, not sure what it retails for in the US). There is a certain level of expectation that we can all expect from purchasing from an AD and this is one of them. When I purchased my BLNR last week, the AD did not provide the outer cardboard sleeve. I had to request it from him. To me, it was a big deal as all of my other Rolex boxes had this sleeve.

The booklet package should be on the inside of the green box on top of the cloth.

I have been given the wrong box a few times(from AD)....some were un-marked, others actually had a little sticker for the model that was supposed to be in there.

Try putting the booklets in with a DSSD...then it really doesn't fit.

Either way...the box gets put away in the closet the minute I walk through my front door with new watch.

My apologies Mon that king Midas set is an exception. I was referring to the 80's and 90's plain leather boxes. The president buckle box is an exception also. Cheers.

My DSSD has a medium box. The YMII is small, the 116515 I had was in a large box. It depends on the watch

I've kept all my boxes and papers, but I keep the papers in zip-lock bags, separate from the boxes, but in the same cabinet.

I really don't give a hoot about the boxes, but I do hang on to them in case my survivors have some use for them.

I feel your pain. I've always thought rolex boxes had serious design flaws. Particularly in this day and age, how easy would it be to create a slot to store the card and booklets?
