Pre owned Rolex warranty advice

Hi,

I purchased a pre owned Rolex from a trusted seller, the watch is about 12 months old and comes with completed warranty card, box and all original tags from an AD.

The warranty card obviously has the previous owners name on but there's still around 12 months left on the warranty. I've read somewhere that Rolex will only repair under warranty if you're the original owner? Is this true?

Thanks

It's not likely that you will need warranty service but a valid warranty is a valid warranty and covers the watch, not the owner.

Contact Rolex and have the serial number switched over to your name as the owner in case of loss or theft that's what I did with my pre owned Explorer II
I still have 15 months left of Waranty with Rolex

Great advice, thank you very much for posting it ! I have one question though, did Rolex asked any sort of documentation to prove that the watch switched owners?

Rolex entered the serial number of my watch and entered my name, address etc and that was it.
If that serial number had been flagged as lost or stolen then there would have been an issue.
I had my bill of sale with me but they never asked to see it.

Great advice - Can this be done via a phone call or did you have to go to a RSC in person?

For that I'm not sure I was going to Rolex to get my saphire crystal replaced and they registered the serial number to me as the owner.
They also provided me with a letter on Rolex letterhead with my name, address, the type of watch with model number, serial number, style of bracelet with bracelet reference number, number of links on the bracelet as well as end links and the reference number for them, the type of clasp on my watch and finally the dollar value to have my watch replaced for my own records and for my insurance company. They mailed two copies of the letter to me in less than five days after my visit
