Old Car
One of my bowling teammates drove this to work today, so I took some pictures. I forgot to ask him any details of the car, because of course we were bowling, except that he did say that the wheels were 16", which was unusual because this car was produced when rubber was in short supply (probably before the country tooled up for war), and the usual wheel size was 22", or something like that.
Anyway, I thought I'd post some pictures. I'm sure someone here knows all about this car and others like it. Yours truly, making the cameo appearance. Wearing the BLNR today.

Very nice set of wheels. Is that a CB radio in the car?

Beautiful car from a simpler time! One could actually work on it themselves! Imagine that! |

I actually don't know if the sticker is a magnet or not. Jerry asked me to go to his car and get a bag of apples and put them in my car, so I graciously accepted and while I was out there, I quickly took these pictures before going back in to get my gear ready and do some warm ups.
Whatever it is, it's Jerry's, so he can do with it as he chooses. Jerry's quite a guy. He had some surgery on his right (dominant) shoulder, so he's bowling with his left arm with consistent scores and carrying a decent average for a man his age.

I'm pretty sure it's a Ford, if that's what you mean.
I've heard him speak of the car in the past and the club to which he belongs, Poco Quatros, Model "A" Ford Club of America. So, there it is. It's a Model "A" Ford. Isn't the internet wonderful. In the picture on the website, you can see the difference in the wheel sizes. Jerry said that because of the rubber shortage the wheel diameters were changed and they used the available supply of spokes for the larger wheels and to accommodate the smaller wheel the spokes were hand bent to fit. You can see the bent spokes in the pictures I posted.

Isn't it great to see something from another age still being used and enjoyed.
I enjoyed seeing it. Thanks.

My neighbor has an assortment of vintage and classic cars. Always a treat to see and hear what's coming up the street.
Thanks for sharing, dP
