Click spring missing from 16610 bezel
I've just taken possession of a nice one owner from new 1995 16610 Submariner. The bezel was jammed so I thought I'd take it off and give it a clean. Sure enough - filthy underneath! However, in doing so the click spring disappeared. I now have a nice free moving multi directional bezel - just like the good old days! I actually like it and am tempted to leave it as it is - has anyone else done the same or am I daft to think of such a thing?

The spring is a 5 dollar item but is there to meet requirements to be called a "dive watch". ISO standards require a unidirectional safety bezel for diving. Those requirements came into being in the mid 80's; before that all Subs had bi-directional bezels and no click..
If it meets your needs then who is to say otherwise..

I wore a Sub for years and never used the rotating bezel even once...

I use the bezel for timing different tasks but I don't use it for diving (like most owners). Moving easily either way is rather convenient. I'll leave it but, if I sell it I'll correct the 'fault'. I think replacing the spring is easy?

plenty of online sources for a replacement wire spring, and they are fairly simple to install.
