Best direction for Rolex on a watch winder

I just picked up 2 watch winders from Costco. The 3 position switch can have the watch go in clockwise or counter clockwise rotation.

Is one direction better than the other for a Rolex?

The rotor of Rolex watches winds bi-directionally. So you should set your winder to wind it both cw and ccw.

My Rapport winder goes both ways - 15 mins in each direction when in its winding cycle, half-an-hour every 3 hours.

I didn't know Costco had watch winders. Were they reasonably priced?

Yes, $99.99 for the single watch model. I think they are available online only

Winds Both Ways

I do not know the brand name but it is a 4 watch winder with storage for 6 additional watches and it winds 20 min clock wise and the shuts off for 2 hours and then winds counter clockwise for 20 min, etc. etc. have never had a problem with it in the 2+ years that I have had it. Purchased it on ebay for approx. $ 275.00 in a beautiful burl wood finish.

Winder Direction

According to the Orbita database, most Rolex automatics require 650 turns per day bi-directionally. The Zenith Daytonas require 800-950 turns in a clockwise direction.

Welcome to TRF, Steven!

Actually, both the Zenith and in-house Daytonas wind bi-rectionally, and the Daytona that the Orbita database mentions is the in-house Cal. 4130. I am afraid Orbita's wrong with that piece of information.

Orbita database.
