Rolex in Russia

Hoping some of our Russian members or those frequently in the area can comment. Have prices for Rolexes in ADs and boutiques adjusted after the significant drop in value of the Ruble over the past month? I'm headed to Europe very soon and was thinking it might be worth flying out to Moscow to purchase a SkyDweller or some other PM model at ostensibly a serious discount relative to US.

I think the exchange rate will change to reflect new prices, but I
m also interested in the answer.

.

Rolex isn't officially selling watches in Russia.

Mercury group is a privately owned company and got an exclusive contract to sell Rolex watches there (as well as many other luxury brands like Ferrari , Bentley ...)

They'll probably increase their prices

Love the city. But flying there just to get a Rolex is a terrible idea.

Smuggle in a Rolex from Russia to the US, in these troubled times? I don't think it's a good idea... And I'm also pretty sure the above mentioned dealer keeps adjusting their prices daily, or during the day as well, or they simply fix their prices in USD or EUR. It happened here in Hungary too, when we had a brief period when the exchange rate seemed to get out of control. I walked in the local AP/Hublot AD, queried a price for the Royal Oak 15300ST, and the guy walked out from the store to the street to see what the current CHF exchange price is _at the moment_, and quoted me a HUF price using the live conversion rate. I can imagine it would work the same, or even worse when the local currency is floating a lot in Russia.

BTW, during such troubled times many luxury dealers switch to using a more stable currency in their price lists -- even though it may not be entirely legal. The local Jaguar/Land Rover dealer simply switched to EUR prices on their price list to avoid losses on the jumping conversion rate.

Did dealers in Thailand dealers do the same (adj. prices before Rolex issue a new price sheet) when the Baht took a dive years ago?

It's not advisable due to the inflation rate in Russia at 11.5%. Even in the good times in Russia I would see high end goods priced in dollars or euros due to the ruble being unstable. Also the prices were higher than the what can be found in the States.
