Rolex 3135 movements, automatic and manual winding...?

Hi, I am new to my Submariner 3135 movements. It's stated it has a reserved power of 40 hours, is it only when using manually winding then when not wearing it, the power can last for 40 hours then stop..?
If I don't wind manually, and using the automatic function. When I not wearing it, the power can last for how many hours? I experienced it about 8 hours, it stopped..!! Is it normal or abnormal functioning?

Thank you 😉

After a full wind (give it 60 to be sure) it should last from 42 to 48 hours (when not worn) if it's in good shape. Eight hours is bad, and probably means it needs a service.

Depends on how much you move during the day

When fully wound it will last for more than 40 hours by itself.

You can either manually wind it or let it wind automatically on your wrist.

If you wear it on your wrist you must be active enough to wind it fully; most people now days are not. It does not matter how many hours a day you wear it, what matters is activity..

If your watch stopped after 8 hours off your wrist then you were not active enough to wind it any more than that.. You can wind it manually every so often to keep it running..

Oh I see. Cause my watch is just two months old. So most probably is activity to wind it.. When less activity means less power, and comes to stall..! Thank you 😊

All newly acquired Rolex watch should be fully manually wound up before wearing. This is done by turning the winding crown at least 40 full crown turns clockwise only don't worry you cannot over-wind.Then if worn for around 8 hours+ a day with reasonable wrist activity watch should keep running. But will do no harm to wind say once or twice a week if say on a static desk job.Now on a full manual wind movement should run between 39-48 give or take a hour or so.
