Help!!! Tudor help...
Hi guys
I am trying to find a nice beaten up but still good condition Snowflake- am close to pulling the trigger on the watch below- but before I do would love some advise as to yes or no... p.s I know has slight engraving- don't mind it, gives it some lineage and provenance (unfortunately does not say MN though) |

Seen this one before somewhere - water damage / moisture causing whit dial to go goldish (not gilt), 80s service insert, lugs may be a bit thin. Pizza dial.

It was described as gilt by seller, you think he just doesn't realise? |

So is that a stay away? I don't love the super clean dials- these watches are 40 years old, but if you think rubbish then will stay away
Thanks |

Depends on the price.
Does it have a Roulette red/black date wheel? If not, deduct Black & pizza face are deductions (I happen to like them but there is a price cost) Lugs look average Some case pitting. 80s service insert, deduction If the price is right and you like it - go for it ;) Like mine - a fair but not stellar example.

3400-3500 USD would be a fair price on this IMO - I have been accused before of being low on prices - I would but it for 3K

Yes, is a new watch to me and obviously need advise- hence turning to you guys. Threads seem to die/people lose interest after a while, therefore I have restarted a couple to see if can get some new opinions about different watches. Apologises if annoying, just needed advise.

1. Because I think you're full of it. 2. I want to establish that the owner, whom I know, and your 'seller,' are the same person, for obvious reasons. You've posted easily recognisable photos of a well-known watch, owned by a well-known member, who doesn't happen to have a FS ad here for said Tudor snowflake, as far as I can see. That's why I'm 'concerned', mate. And when I posted that the watch and its owner are well-known, you shifted back to the first one. Plus, it's weird that you've started 3 threads in a couple of days about the same thing. |

Because TRF is a tight knit community with friends worldwide that watch out for each other. They don't want to see anyone taken advantage of, buyer or seller. I'm blessed to call many my friends.

Just to put all the cards out on the table. I contacted the OP and told him I was possibly thinking of selling my snowflake since he was on the lookout. He decided mine was not the level of patina he was after. So I offered to review the examples he was interested in. dP

Bit harsh, considering you know nothing about me.
I didn't say anything because was a private conversation and to be honest I shouldn't have put the pictures up. After I had Dan mentioned keeping parts of the conversation private, so decided to keep whole thing private. Apologises Dan, I appreciate all the help you've give me. And after all that no one said if $3.6k was decent for the 1st one (Not Dan's)... |

Well, it should have been obvious to you why I was 'so concerned' and you chose to ignore the fact that I had identified the watch. Dan is a friend of mine and it was not apparent that his watch was for sale, so I merely raised the question. I was also mindful that you may be being scammed by someone who had used Dan's photos to take your money. All you had to do was say you had been talking to DP about it, so when you asked the reason for my concern I made that comment, because it appeared that you were avoiding the issue. You took it out of the 'private conversation' realm when you posted Dan's own pictures of his watch up on a public forum asking for comments and 'advise'. My advice is keep private things private and public things public. |

I don't think so - it is becoming more common to see those photo hijacks happen. I was going to PM DP once I realized that was his watch.

OK, glad that's been established! OP only had to say he'd been in talks with you when I said I recognised the watch and photos, and that would have been the end of it.
Indeed, pictures are sometimes erroneously used, so it puts both potential buyers and sellers, and owners [with no knowledge of, or intention of selling] at risk. I'll get my coat... Cheers Dan! |
