All eyes welcome to help me with this pepsi 1675
Last week TRF was a great help in reviewing a brown bezel insert 16753. In the end I have passed on it - price, as many notes, was high and I thought the bling factor might be much for me. Plus I really want the pepsi 1675 so maybe that should be first.
I found this 1675 at a jeweler - it has service papers but no other info. Seems to me hands replaced (which is ok with me as I like the clean look) and otherwise watch looks like it needs a good cleaning or polish? Seller asking around $7k. I would only buy if I could bring price down. He doesn't know how to open it so deal is I could return it if once opened things didn't look right. How do things look on the other side? Serial number of 5.5 million puts it around 1978. The 6 and 9 on wheel date are open. |

Looks like a very nice example to me - lovely dial and insert. Yes, later hands, but still looks good. Case is pretty strong. At $7K so is the price, though.

The bezel insert looks like an original red back, dial is nice as well as the case. Hands can be changed if they are luminova. Factor about $850 for a bracelet. If the price isn't to your liking, keep shopping.
Good luck.

Sorry to get off the topic. Is a blue back insert still genuine? I've seen quite a few up for sale. Thanks |

I'm also on the hunt right now for a 1675 and see pieces like this, great dial/bezel but new hands in the 4500-6000 territory a lot. I would be a buyer of something like this closer to $5500, seeing as there is no bracelet and newer hands. $7k can get you all original with a bracelet. Look around Watchrecon, ebay, chrono24 and HQ Milton, there are better deals to be had, but if he doesn't know what he's selling really, I would stand firm no higher than $6k.

$7K seems high. HQMilton has a '79 1675 for $5800. You might want to check it out.

If they're out there,I'm not seeing them. Not in the last year or so at least. I'm of the opinion that the right example has to be paid for. The watch the op posted looks nice and the price isn't out of line with current GMT pricing trends. |

Rolex also produced blue-back inserts for 1675/0, but later than the red-backed ones.
