Rolex 4768 movement funky? Original?
This movement below gives me pause due to the shape of the Rolex signed bridge, the lack of shock absorber on balance, the crude 'R' for Valjoux. From an early watch but I haven't seen other movements from the 4768 caliber that look like this one. Cobbled together? Some parts replaced? Thoughts? It is not mine but am interested in it. I realize pictures aren't great.

There are plenty of watches that has had a counterfeit Rolex bridge installed and the dial modified to say Rolex instead. This is most likely just yet another one of those.

I meant to say that you should take this into consideration. My "most likely" is too strong, "might be" is a better wording.
The bridge looks off, but I do not remember how the counterfeit ones looks. Here is a thread where Bob Ridley restores a 4768: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=38985 There has been a few threads the last year where people have been asking about supposedly Rolex chronographs with a Valjoux 72 movement, they are usually counterfeit. |

Case looks correct. But as mentioned above, the movement can be found in other watches, and fake dials and bridges can be bought for this movement. So, always be very careful.
Case shows some rust, so there is a chance that some rust damage occurred on the movement. And, parts scavenged from another watch. |
