Scratched Bezel

I purchased a new Z blue Milguass in November and have managed to scratch the bezel. I always intended to wear the watch and so expected a few knocks in time but this is fairly noticeable. I took the watch back to where I purchased it and they have told me that due to the scratch being on the bezel, they wouldn't attempt to polish it out as they may damage the anti reflective coatings off the glass and suggested I live with it until it is due for service and get it polished then. I see some people suggest using Cape cod polishing cloths but don't wish to make it worse. Your thoughts please?

There is no such thing as antireflective coating on your Milguass....

that being said, if they're that dumb I wouldn't let them any where near my watch.

A cape cod can only work on the lightest/faintest of scratches.

Polishing a watch really isn't that hard.

To me, it's actually quite pleasing. I invested in a dremmel, mother's metal polish, green rouge for deeper scratches, polishing cloths, brushing blocks from http://bergeonusa.com/, and practiced first on cheap watches before moving to nice ones.
I re-polish friends watches all the time now.

Practice and read up, a simple scratch isn't rocket science to fix.

Anti reflective coatings...hear of this on some Omegas but never rolex

It's nonsense , the sapphire of your Milguass doesn't have anti-reflective coating , contemporary Rolex models have an AR coating under the cyclops, starting with the GMTC's I believe but stand to be corrected.

The scratch won't look so bad after a week or two , but if you can't live with it until a service, buy some Cape Cod from your local Lakeland store & spend 10 mins polishing it away, go nice & easy though as Cape Cod does remove considerable metal once you get a lick on , but I'm sure you'll be ok

try a dremmel with a soft cotton wheel,use some green vert dialux compound
theres an instructional video on youtube about it
tape the crystal up with masking tape and your away

I was dubious re anti-reflective coatings on Rolex but I thought a Rolex dealer must know.
I had a DJ for 10 years when I was on the spanners and it didnt look too different when I sold it.
Are today's Rolexs' made of a softer steel?
Anyway I'm not brave enough to try a Drexel on it but will go easy with some Cape cod, does it come in different grades? I just want to take the worst of it off.

Try the cape cod, and smart move keeping the dremel away from your ROLEX. Very easy to make it worse than that. I use one for many things, but not this.

Rolex doesn't have that, AR takes away the glitter and shine from environmental lightings

Once I got comment from a lady that my watch is reflecting too much lights into her eyes. Haha.

It's pretty much everyone except for Rolex. Love the AR on my Omegas.

IMO the two choices you have are the Cape Cod and just leave it be. If it's really that noticeable odds are the Cape Cod won't restore fully...just depends on how deep the scratch is.

I would have to see it to recommend one of these courses of action. Why don't you post a pic and let us take a look at it?
