That's really cool! - Was in San Fran a couple years ago and took the ferry across - went by it, wish I'd done the tour.

Didn't do the tour back in -97 when I was there. Should have. Might go back this autumn. Will do it then.

Escape from Alcatraz

I survived the escape from Alcatraz. The tour includes an audio guided headset. It was a bueautiful day on the water over to the island (72* & sunny). Got to walk the yard, try out a solitar confinement cell #13. No night tour was available but did my best to find the spooky areas. The morgue was open, a small mechanical room with a wooden table. The hospital was open (rare) due to an art exhibit. The psych ward was playing audio screams. That top floor was the most deteriated. The operating room has an old table through a dark room.
There was so much to see, you can spend hours there. I Netflix the movie with Clint Eastwood after to get the full experience.

I do recommend visiting Alcatraz when in San Fransisco. The accommodations are a bit tight.

Very cool I did the same about 15 years ago. Even got to meet the last living guard who was there signing pictures and talking to people. I always loved the movies about it so I was so excited, even though I was maybe 10-12.
