Selling Submariner. Getting a GMT Master II
I'm thinking about selling my Submariner and getting a GMT Master II ( Coke Bezel). Has anyone had any experience with Bob's Watches?

I bought my 16610 Sub from Bobs. They are a reputable seller however I found that their grading scale for condition isn't quite accurate. Call them first and have someone go over the actual piece with you. Make sure you ask all the questions.
My sub was rated "II" on their scale which they describe as "extra fine like new condition". It was in good shape but I would say that description was pushing it a bit. It has a small dent in the clasp, some spotting on the hands, a small ding in the crown, and the bezel "teeth" were polished down pretty significantly. Most of their watches are serviced and polished by Four Crowns in LA. |

They are reputable, you can go feel confident with their "wire price" to save a couple hundred bucks..

I think that I would deal with a local AD or a trusted seller. I know nothing about Bob's other than seeing it on Internet.
I traded in a black bezel GMT for a Sub. Do as you please! |

Thanks for the replies. I'm new to the forum. How do I locate sellers?

Go to "For Sale: ROLEX (brand) watches" on this forum. Check around for watches which interest you and then go to "Buyers/Sellers Who's Who" to see what type of comments the seller is receiving. Although I've never done it, some will also buy your watch as well. There are some names you see repeatedly like DavidSW who have earned a sterling reputation.

OP: I think you might have to be a Pledge member to see the sales. Not sure, though.

Nope, do not need to be a pledge member to see them. You do have to be one to post in that particular forum, though. When you see an ad that sparks your interest, simply PM the seller.

I would def do some comparison shopping in our classifieds before you go with Bobs...as far as a sub for a Coke, well, only you can know if that's the right move for you.

I think bobs is good but I would check out the watch in person during your three day period and make sure it is as described if it isn't send it back. I bought 3x from them, next day a rolex comes in a box. They will cost a bit more but you get fedex free shipping and a year guarantee and some sort of authenticity guarantee.
three day money back if you are unsatisfied. I've used that twice and they do return your money promptly. I have an issue now with a day date wheel not being instantaneous so I'll send it in and I may report experience with the warranty service. If you go trusted seller I would check the seller out if they aren't one of the ones everyone always talks about. I wouldn't buy from a seller overseas, personally. |

They're expensive for what you get, my good friend bought a 16610 from them and was happy but I think the trusted sellers here on the forums are better bang for buck and slightly more honest about condition.

Don't have any first hand experience or knowledge of Bob's other than I think their prices seem a little high. They do seem to have a good inventory. Personally, I'd also suggest you try a TRF seller.

Bob's not bad, but they're a high-volume second-hand rolex web-based seller... you're not going to get the same degree of personal interaction as you would here with one of the trusted TRF sellers... buy the seller before the piece....

I bought one from Bob's in person. It was a pleasant enough experience. I talked them down like $100 or so by showing them a few ads for the same model on TRF. In the end, the model wasn't perfect for me (through no fault of Bob's) and I returned it within their 3-day window. The next day, I found and purchased my true love here on TRF.

I have experienced both...Bobs and Trusted Seller on here. Bob's was great to deal with...bought a 16613. Condition was excellent...process was great but experience and pricing was definitely better with the Trusted Seller (Sohail). With the choices...i would and will go with Trusted Sellers on here all day.
Good luck with your purchase! |

I bought my Sub C from DavidSW and flipped it for a GMT BLNR from DavidSW also. The transactions are so seamless and the prices so competitive, it makes it easy.
This would be the way to go |
