"nos"
Im looking for a new SS Submariner, well new to me anyway.
I had a 2005 submariner that I sold , and kept a SS Datejust, but I WANT MY SUB BACK Lol. I do not like the new Hulk style and prefer the 16610. Ive been searching high and low and am surprised at the prices I am seeing on the 16610. There are a couple of new old stock watches out there, that have never been worn, with all the original protective stickers on them, but the sellers are asking more than the retail price of a new sub! Is this the norm? I am a patient man and will wait to find the right deal, but should I give up hope of finding a last model year 16610 nos for less than $6500?? |

I was in the same situation a year ago and searched high and low for a nos 16610. Called every AD in Canada and U.S. No one had one except one AD. Wanted 8500 OTD. I bit the bullet and bought it at top dollar. For me, it was nos or nothing. I know I could have purchased the SubC for less. SubC does not look great on my wrist, so it was either buy old sub or the Sub dream ends. Anyways, I've been wearing it everyday for the last year and I love it more everyday.

Agreed, but.....
I'm looking mostly on an auction site e something lol Every single watch for sale, and there are hundreds, are being offered by people in the watch business and they seem to have cornered the market, also most have been polished, "serviced", missing box or papers etc, plus they have their profit built into the price! I would much rather find one from the original owner who never wore it and kept it wrapped in a diaper in his safe lol. I'll keep looking :) |

The resale on a NOS is obviously very bad. I would get a nice pre-owned myself.

Don't buy BNIB NOS.
At this stage of the game, it's just price gouging. As soon as you take the stickers off, it will be no different than any other used 16610.

Or if you don't care about resale. If the watch is purchased and kept for life, and you can truly afford it...why not. Being able to afford it is the big issue for most. If you can truly afford it, you will never have to sell it for any reason.

I got my explorer 2 NOS and paid retail for it. As far as I know AD's are not allowed to offer NOS watches at inflated prices. They must sell them at what ever the final retail for that mode is. I am not sure Rolex would be happy about it.

Almost any discontinued piece that you can find in true NOS condition will command a premium...
If a new, unworn watch is what you want, you have no choice but to pay what ever premiums they are commanding... |

If the NOS is what you really want, you're going to have to pay for it. I wouldn't, but that's me.
