Ski Season Over, So Go Out With A Splash
The ski season at the resort where I work on the ski patrol ended today due to the incredibly warm weather the past week. We celebrated with a Pond Skim, where skiers or snowboarders attempt to cross a slush filled pond at the base of a run. Hundreds of spectators had a blast in the 60 degree heat. I took photos of some of the more interesting competitors.

Looks fun, but any injuries? I'm imagining blown knees or something with all of that sudden change in velocity and stability!

Thanks. I shot about 500 photos and these were some of my favorites. This is a photo taken by the mother of the five year-old. It's the ultimate Pond Skim photo in my book. (The kid was not hurt and had a great time.) |

A few more shots.
I am on the right with some patroller friends in front of the 6 degree bunny hill (also set up with some beginner rails) These five terrain park employees all hit the pond at the same time: Obviously, this guy didn't make it across: |
