Ceramic Bezel O-ring Ideas ?

Hello, sent my 2t sub for a service and it returned looking great, except the ceramic bezel is now very tight. As usual i returned to the AD and they said the bezel is perfect.

I mean its extremely tight ! They told me wear would make it a bit loose.

To avoid arguing, i decided to remove the bezel my self, and found the plastic oRing the one which secures the bezel the the watch is completly chewed, dinged, and deformed. Im postive this is the problem...

I have searched ebay and tons of www, and still cant find that little o-ring. Any ideas where can i find a replacement.

Thank you

I think you'll need to get that part from an RSC too, and they'll want to install it themselves.

Rolex won't even sell the Delrin retaining ring to indy watchmakers with Rolex parts accounts. Obviously the OP's watch did not go to RSC or that ring would have been replaced with a new one! His watch will need to go to RSC for a new retaining ring and bezel installation.

I would love to know how you removed it and ever better if you could post a video of how you installed a ceramic bezel with out smashing it into a thousand pieces.

Plenty on YouTube, Rolex have a tool for the job but seen it done in the same manner as the previous generation alu bezels with a knife however the newer style use a delrin ring insert which is meant to be replaced when the bezels are removed/refitted, the vids do appear to see this ring being reused.

Rolex has special tool for bezel removal, and a special press for reinstalling the bezel with the delrin retaining ring to secure it, and a special press for installing the ceramic ring into the bezel.

My watchmaker pal went to the AWCI training such that he can have access to the tools as well as the parts from Rolex.

The bezel shouldn't be tight. My guess is that a non-Rolex trained watchmaker did the work. Have the dealer send you watch to Rolex. All the AD need to do is take out a new model out of the display case, compare to yours, and it will be obvious as everyone knows that an RSC attempts to make any repair as good as new.

It's actually quite easy to remove the bezel.

I've never done it on my watch but I have some complete Submariner C bezels here and I could easily separate the retaining ring from the bezel and white teflon ring.

I'm with Dr. Tom...send it back if you're not satisfied. I wouldn't be messing around with that ceramic bezel.

Super extra easy, no damage at all. If donde slowly and carefully its literally a 30 second job.

*****no force needs to be applied, just a minimal pinch and the bezel pops up.*****

***** beware of the springs that might fall, extremely small******

The old bezels had a smal "spring" and I don't see that in the video.
The spring causes the clicks when turning the bezel.

Which part of the ceramic bezel does cause the clicks when turning the bezel?

It seems like a fix I can do myself now that I see what is wrong but cannot find the parts I need.

Any advice?

The clicks are caused by a "one way unit" placed in the case, this makes the clicks and does t let the bezel rotate clockwise. newer models dont have the old type spring.

There are totally special tools needed! Did you see the special cleaning cloth at the end of that youtube video? ;)

To the OP, sounds like you should go back (or at least call) where you had the watched serviced, and demand they provide the new o-ring and have someone senior and competent do the work right in front of you. If there's any issue with that, bring it to RSC, tell them the story , obviously include the name of the AD, and see what they say.

Also, I would let the AD know that you have no intention of keeping this incident quiet and it's unacceptable the way they've handled this.

Not so much special tools but they clearly have specific tools designed for the job guessing for speed, ease of use and reducing the risk of damage.

Haha. Oh, sourcing a blue dial and blue bezel would be sweet.
