1680 back from ABC
After some thought I decided to send my Red 1680 to ABC WatchWerks to have the case detailed and brought back to factory specs as close as possible without removing too much metal. Edvi was wonderful to work with and after receiving my watch and some discussion over the phone he promised to take good care of it. I am absolutely thrilled over the results, they did a fantastic job, and if anyone is thinking of doing something similar you can rest assured that your watch is in good hands! I can't recommend ABC enough, they will be getting all my vintage work in the future!! So here are some photos so you can see their wonderful work!

Wow, looks great! I have a watch currently at ABC awaiting polishing; I hope it turns out as nicely as your 1680.

They can do just about anything you need....polishing, refinishing case, bracelet, re-cutting of chamfers, etc. Also full service and they know how to properly handle vintage pieces and most importantly...what not to do! There is at least one thread on here that shows how they shave down a service crystal to look like the old superdome T39 and doesn't have the fine cracking on the edges that renders even NOS older crystals susceptible to moisture ingress. If you are interested in some work just give them a call, they'll take good care of you!

I had them put a T39 on my red and I love it. I was not a fan of the tophat crystal. |

I really like the way yours looks! I had seen this mod in a previous thread and almost did the same, but had to keep the top hat for originality. Maybe I will have to add another 1680 and do the shaved T39?

Polishing has been turned in to a dirty word for many collectors, but ABC's case work is fantastic. They detail without really doing a full polish, and they seem to do it better than RSCs, from what I've seen. Big congrats on that beautiful Red Sub!

Yes, that's why it took me while to make the decision on refinishing the case! But since I do not have the chronometer certificate and hence it will never be a "full set" I decided I wanted the chamfers back, and as close to original specs as possible without going too far....I intend to keep this one always, even if other pieces come and go as it is my first vintage sub.
