GMT 2 16760 query
Hello
newbe here, but not a rolex newbie ( has a few when I was single man in the last century) Recently got an old GMT 2 16760 with the coke bezel from an established secondary retailer (BL/RE bezel) when doing my backlground, I checked the detail on the serial numbers Top lug detial: 16760 Bottom lug detail : serial number 439**** now this doesnt seem tight to me - the 16760 GMT2 should have started in the 80s but the bottom lug number suggests a 1975 model Any oprinions on this ? cheers S |

Sounds like a new case..
(the 16760 only came with the red/black insert, nothing else)

I'm with Larry. Replacement cases back in the day were in the 4.4mil range.

aha
that could make sense- I didnt know this so they used new/ old stock cases for case replacement, but obviously then added the model type engraving as they reshelled the watch hence the correct 16760 number on an older stockroom case ? |

More likely the original case was so badly damaged that it was replaced later on, if this is indeed, as seems likely, a replacement case.

Did the seller disclose that the watch had a replacement case? As you probably know, re-cased watches can take a hit on the re-sale market.

no, never disclosed I have mailed the seller to discuss and waiting their response have also spken to the credit card issuer and should it get messy, I can get it reviewed by an AD to back up what the situation is & get a "not as described" chargeback action going If however the watch is down with Rolex as a recorded recase, then I would be happy to hold it thanks |

cheers for that So the #4 series cases would not be the same as the normal 16760 cases in terms of size or design? would the #4 series logically be the earlier 1675 etc model then ? if so, how would a 16760 GMT2 Guts be shoehorned into it ? sorry for the questions! S |
