Have to agree just because of a blue insert.

you're right. It will sell, because there's always someone out there with more money than brains who will bid on it at that price.

Just like anything, rarity adds to the cost. Why is this any different than a line of red doubling the cost of a 1680 or two lines of red doubling the cost of a 1665. Or what about a Milsub bezel? Or old turn o graph insert?
Plenty of people with both money and brains, choose to spend their money on rare and desirable Rolex variants. |

Hand lume and dial lume all match in the flesh (Though not as well in my iPhone pics with filters added). Serial is in the 5.13m range. I turned highlighting way down and some other settings up on this closeup to bring out the texture of the lume for easier comparison with the dial: Untitled by j0hnnycache, on Flickr Untitled by j0hnnycache, on Flickr Untitled by j0hnnycache, on Flickr

I wasn't aware that a 6542/1675 transitional reference existed ? Did I read that correctly?

I too think the price is high and unwarranted.
However, the BIG difference to a REd or Mil Sub is that those are truly different from the get go and the only way to make one look like a Mil or Double Red is to outright fake it. A Blue bezel can be had, albeit expensive, but no way that I know of to tell if it was original or not. A Big difference I think.

It's not the price... It's the auction estimate which is a completely different thing.
It may not reach it. And you'll need two people who want it enough to reach or go beyond the reserve.

Very nice Q. It's nice to see one that doesn't have an artificially faded insert!
