Bubbleback Bracelet Width/Size

Hi All,

Was hoping someone may be able to help with a small query.

I'd like to find a bracelet for my 2940 Bubbleback, and was wondering if there is a particular size I should be looking for when it comes to metal bracelets? I know the lug widths for bubblebacks are typically 17.5-18mm, so should I be looking for the same size width or is there anything else I should be aware of?

Cheers,

Peter

What kind of metal bracelet? I have a '50s Rolex riveted bracelet with 16mm straight end pieces, which works well (though it is a real hair puller!). You definitely don't want one with end pieces wider than 17mm.

Cheers Adam.

I'd like to try and a WAB 'Made in England' stretch bracelets.

I saw one fitted to a 2940 a couple of years ago which looked really smart, but I think they are quite rare.

17 mm was the size. 16.5-17mm.

Straight ends.

Straight ends.

The curved end-links hadn't quite arrived yet so the Rolex branded option looked like this.
See how the fit is slightly off too which seems to have been acceptable back then.
We saw that again twenty years later on Commander Bond's nato straps ...

A top-of-the-line option offered by the ADs was the Gay Freres rice bead bracelet ...

Lots of leather straps in use circa 1940 too but affordable steel bracelets on offer included Bonclip and Clewco.
