Help! DJ II

New here to the forum.....flame away

Had an early 90s TT DJ w/ Jubilee which was my first Rolex out of college...wife bought me a new '14 TT Sub for the wedding last year...absolute holy grail of watches for me but hate wearing it every day and can't stand the scratches!!

Long story short, the old DJ was stolen from my golf bag a few months ago and I'm looking to replace. Want something that is more of an everyday watch much like the old DJ. Looking at SS DJ II (116300 and 116334). My concern with the stainless domed bezel is scratches...how bad does it get and if you take good care of it, is it easy to prevent scratches in that bezel?

The white gold fluted bezel is better looking but also about $2000 more for essentially the same watch....what do you think?

Also, I tend to prefer stick dials but the Azzurro Blue dial w/ numerals looks better to me in pictures...what's better...plain blue or the Azzurro w/ numerals?

Another option is an Explorer II but I want to be able to mix in a brown croc strap and I think that will look better on the DJ than the Explorer.

Lastly, should I be looking at something else?? Want to stay in the $7-$9 range...also like the Omega Moon watch but that will have to wait till I replace the Datejust.

Appreciate the feedback...

They are both beautiful watches but I think for daily wear perhaps the domed. I just picked up the 116334 and will wear for work but also have a 116610LV for casual and some other watches to select from.

I picked up a black dial based on a great deal but the blue sticks is better looking (already have a blue dialed TT sub).

Crocodile and EX II is no match IMO. Croc and DJII is perfect. BTW I called Everest Bands and they should be coming out with a leather strap for the DJII sometime next year....

Omega Speedmaster is always a good choice but I personally stick with the Rolex for now as the DDII is much more versatile plus the 100M water resistance makes it a better daily.

Original explorer would be my vote.

I have to have a Date and the old Explorer is a lesser watch than the one I had stolen.

Concerning the domed bezel djII, scratches are unavoidable. My djII got microscratches within a week. And i was super cautious not to jam it or leave it with my keys.

But trust me, you'll get over it.

The best DJ2 out there, IMO. Don't overthink it, this is the one.

I've had both the fluted and smooth bezel DJ2, and for me the fluted is hands down the choice. It's just classic Rolex in a modern size.

I have a DJ II Fluted White Stick Bezel and love it. Its my everyday watch and not looking back. The fluted bezel does look better than smooth but determining on funds a smooth bezel is not a bad choice either. I would go with a blue stick dial with a smooth bezel if you go that route.

Domed plus a little bit of Flitz polish and a microfiber cloth and any scratches larger than the super tiny are gone.

Also, not my picture, but I think this is another great dj2 dial

Thanks for the help guys!

With having a nice TT Sub, I may just get the domed bezel. I was just worried that it would scratch badly and look bad. I really like those blue stick dials!

Going to go look in person today or tomorrow and then start shopping the best deal!
