Why does there seem to be more men than women in this site? Do you all think this is refle

ctive of Rolex's client base?

Generally speaking, imho watches are more a man's thing. But I must say that I love having female fellow members here!

It's not the kind of thing most women are that into. In general I have "boy/man" hobbies, photography, computers etc. While there are plenty of women photographers and computer users they do not in general seem to flock to these type of sites except for a particular question. I find myself quite comfortable here along with a few dozen other women who post often here but in general "gear sites" are mostly populated by guys.

I have sometimes heard that the most popular Rolex is a ladies DJ so it doesn't really reflect sales.

There are definitely similar personality traits among WIS of any gender!

im not so sure about rolex sales... but this forum is certainly transcendent...

i love this forums diversity... sex, age, ethnicity, class, job, income etc etc

I think in general watches are more of a guy thing, which is why you find a predominanace of males here or on most watch sites.

But we embrace our female members with open arms (well, except for JJ, who prefers to open his arms to sheep - but that's another story).

Way back in 2000 I was buying a Omega moon watch and my wife was throwing a fit
they she did not have a "nice watch" so we got her an Omega Deville 18kt and stainless
model...she wore it afew times and on special days etc....other than that she may wear
it 5 times a year.
She is into Diamond earings and tennis braclets.
I offered to get her a Rolex but she wanted diamonds instead......she is not into watches.

I think it's true that overall, the guys are more into watches then gals....but there are still plenty of us gal-WIS types! I, for one, have ALWAYS been more into watches then jewelry....it's in my blood!

So I counter; why do you buy so many damn batteries if you only live in the real world.

But I guess the lopsided ratio does have alot to do with watches being a "mechanical thing".

i agree that males are more prevalent on this site my reasons for this would be that
1. Watches are more a male thing
2. men often enjoy spending more time on computers than women

But there are people from all walks of life on here and thats what makes TRF so special

I agree that most women just aren't that into watches. I don't know why I've always liked them, but I have, ever since that bright red daily winding watch from Sears my parents bought me when I was in 4th grade. Jewelry? Not so much. Seriously. I have one diamond ring - my engagement ring - that I don't wear. Besides my gold wedding band (that I also don't wear) that's it for "real" jewelry. However, my Rolex only comes off for a bath every evening. Something must be wrong with me!
