Hang Tag Question on New Rolex

Hey guys,

New here. Just purchased my first and second Rolex last week.

1. Milgauss

2. Sub Date

Here's my question, on my first Sub Date, the hang tag was green, I brought it back due to what the AD said was a crown malfunction (very hard to get it in the 3rd position) They gave me a new one, and the hang tag is white. I've read a lot about Rolex going to the Green Hang Tag to show the 5 yr. Warranty, has anyone ever seen a white one? IS it possible that it is not new like they have said? They removed the stickers prior to me getting there so I couldn't tell.

Thank you in advance!

Those aren't the tags that changed when warranty was changed.

Warranty tags that changed are the round tags with the hologram that used to be red, but now are green.

Ah I see, thank you for clarifying that for me. Nothing to worry about then? I've never seen the white rage before.

Don't worry about the tags it's the date of sale from the AD on the warranty card which dictates the warranty period.

But why did the AD remove the stickers before you arrived?!

Ah yes.

Probably should have been more clear.

OP, the tags themselves don't have anything to do with the warranty. The properly filled out warranty card is all that really matters.

The round hologram hang tags simply changed from red to green after the change to the five year warranty.

Sorry I wasn't trying to undermine your reply it's just I sometimes fail to understand the hang up over having this or that colour tag etc I would be more concerned the warranty was filled out correctly and why the AD felt the need to remove all the stickers which to me seems odd!

No worries at all.

Forums tend to make us all obsess about the little things that seem important but really aren't.

Agree with the post above about the AD removing the stickers before you got there. That's a bit concerning.

Congrats on the watches!

Those tags are for different models. One is a Sub Date LV. The other is a TT Sub Date.
Did you opt for the TT over the LV?

The white tag could be a store inventory tag. I've never seen anything other than the green tag. Sometimes the store will add info to that tag, like the price.

I'm trying to source a new watch now. I'll let you know if tha tag is different.

Maybe a TS might chime in.

AD takes off all stickers as a service to the customer.

Only WIS like us want to do it ourselves.

Kind of like buying a new car. Some guys don't want the dealer to peel the plastic cover off the paint nor wash it as part of the PDI. They drive it straight to the detailer with the shipping wrap on to get it detailed, paint corrected, opti-coated, wrapped.....

Sorry, I should have said that I might have picked up a third :). Anyways, you guys wouldn't worry about the white hang tag? Everything else looks right on the watch, just kind of concerned me the first one had a green tag, and this one had a white tag. If it is indeed a store inventory could it have been one some one had returned?

Thank you all! I can tell this is going to be addictive.

Never saw one. To me, it looks like a price tag. I doubt it is packed in the shipping coffin.

What color are the other round plastic hang tags? Red or Green?

To the OP: The white tag in your pics is for a 116613LB (SS/18K Sub), not a 116610LV (Green Sub). I'd double-check your warranty card and make sure the model #/serial # on the card match your watch.

Congrats on your acquisitions - they look great.

Thank you! I will go into my AD to check the cards, they hold on to them. I was just wondering if the white hang tag/price was any indication of date built, however the round stamped hang tags are all green.

So, I did find out from my AD's Rolex Rep, that the White tags are the newest tags, and they will be phasing out the Green Tags.

Not to get off topic, but I just bought my first Rolex as well (2nd will have to wait:)) - a Milgauss. I'm an engineer so thought it was a great choice, plus I love the looks.

You have good taste with both your watches. Congrats!

I just bought my Rolex and the AD didn't give me any tag!! How important is it? Do I need to go back and ask for it?

To OP I called my AD to tell him I'm coming to buy the watch and when I came I found out that they already resized it to my wrist and took the stickers out. I assumed it's a service for my convince!!

ADs don't always give out the sales tag (just the chronometer tag) but resizing the bracelet and removing stickers in advance is unusual. How did they know your wrist size?

I went there the day before and he checked my size.
