This post is going to be vague, but those in law enforcement will understand.

I lost a brother tonight. I lost a friend.

After I was involved in my officer involved shooting this individual came to my house and cried with me while rubbing the back of my head. He begged me and made me promise TWO times that I would never hurt myself.

Well tonight we responded to a call where this LEO and the best cop I have even known, put a bullet in his head. Please done judge because he was a mentor and a hell of an officer.

For those that are cops, if you struggle, PLEASE CALL SOMEONE: I will give you my number. Someone that was a mentor to me, and I looked up to, is now gone. I fought my way into the ambulance to see him. It's not worth it. If you ar struggling, please call someone.

I wasn't ready to purchase.... but Fu************ my good friend just killed himself because of the job. Please, LEO guys, I will PM you my phone number and be available 24/7 if you need help.

Sorry to hear about your friend and mentor. As a retired LEO with 30 years of service I experienced this several time in my agency. There is never a way to explain it and it occurs with too great of a frequency in the LE Community. My thoughts and prayers are with your friend, his family and friends

Please accept my commiserations on this very sad event.
Officers often bottle-up their emotions, feeling that they can't show (what they mistakenly see as) any sign of weakness to their colleagues. This is an 'old-guard' thing and hopefully the younger officers see the critical importance of supporting each other emotionally and carefully monitoring how their mates are coping.
It's a complex issue involving retaining the confidence of others, something that is essential to the job. Alpha type personalities also make it difficult for officers to accept that they are coping less well.
Police organisations also need to be less cynical and more genuinely responsive and caring (and offer practical solutions) to officers that are struggling.
