Yes, sometime in the future. But maybe only for gold Daytona models. I don't think it's worth the wait, it's not that big of a deal.

It could be a typo, but I can't see a Jumbo there :) 15450ST is the 37mm model, definitely not a Jumbo

Not easy to say... what do you work as / what are your activities like? Is this your first good watch?

if its for every day, every where - Daytona (hold off till Mid March to see what new ones come out)
If its for smart casual AND you already have a Rolex. Then the AP

I'd ignore the 37 mm Royal Oak. Even if it's a good fit, the resale market scares me.

Between the other two, I'd go Daytona. Smart, classic, and sporty piece.

I love the 5167, but I don't think it works as a solo watch, as I find a steel bracelet more versatile than the rubber.

Have you tried all three on? There's something to be said if one evokes a visceral response when it's on your wrist.

That being said, I like the AP amongst the three (not factoring resale value as it seems it will be a sentimental piece for you). The Daytona is a classic and you can't go wrong with it, but the AP is just more special.

If you want a ceramic Dayt I presume you are worried about scratches in which case all 3 are vulnerable, the Aquanaut on rubber the least, so I'd just buy what you love the most.

If it were me -- I would go with the Daytona but would consider a PM one...

If I were going AP - it would be a Jumbo...

...if I were going Patek it would be a blue dial 5711...

40th is the perfect opportunity to splurge for something really special...

daytona, was never a big fan of the 15450. kind of an odd size. and the aquanaut looks a bit small

For a single watch, Daytona would be my choice. Understated, durable, reliable and will do ok w depreciation. Ceramics are nice however a stainless watch will always be a classic...even to the masses. I recently acquired an ap, even though the fit finish and so forth is better on the ap(don't get me wrong I love my ap...different watch) I find that the Daytona can hold its own and I still enjoy wearing it and it is very comfortable. One other point, if you are one of those guys that expects extreme accuracy in a mechanical watch then Rolex is your better bet.

Of the choices and for one and only, I'd go:

5167 >/= Daytona >15450.

I have a preference for the 5167 but think the Daytona may make for a better daily watch.

If could expand a bit, I'd say:

5711 > 15202 > 5167 etc.

The 5711/Jumbo you could definitely use as daily watches provided you don't mind scruffing up the watches somewhat (particularly the polished parts). Do bear in mind Patek service times (roughly 6 months once out of warranty) if you only have one watch.

Subs and GMT II's are also fantastic for one and only watches as well...

I own a 15450st. It's a very under appreciated model. I loved how compact the case is versus the 15400/15300... the movement fits in the 15450 just perfectly, but is stuffed in too large of a case for the 15400 (check out the case backs to see what I mean... much more bezel on the latter).

Resale would be worse on the 15450 but you will definitely find a great deal on one as it's overshadowed by the rest of the line.

Also, I believe this ref is discontinued and that there are slim chances of a plain steel <39mm RO ever being made again. The Daytona is great, but you can always pick one up in the future. 5167a is great too but you can save $6000 by choosing a 15450, and you're getting one of the best bracelets in the industry and an equally amazing build quality.

1. if you hadn't tried it on yet, the 15450 is an excellent fit for smaller wrists.

Haven't you already had 2 daytonas in the past, and sold them?

Makes me think there's something you don't like about it, so I would go for either the AP or Patek. I'd hate to buy the Daytona for a third time, and then end up selling it again

I've bought and sold 6 of em lol... Learned my lesson though and won't be going down that road again

AP is my #1 brand, but that damn Paul has me looking hard at RM now
