We have had a very good Olympics......other than the hockey result.

One of our skaters has won 5 medals at this one Games, so quite a result for her.

Kiwis never have specialised in Winter sports. We are good at rowing and the Triathalon as was evident from the Athens Olympics.

We took Gold and Silver in the Triathalon and our girls took gold in the doubles rowing. Also, Sarah Ulmer took gold in cycling.

Quite an impressive games for us, so Vancouver in 2010 should be very interesting to see if the momentum can continue. Keep in mind, Canadians finished fourth in 13 events... had they translated into podiums, (or is that podi-i? LOL) we would have been about 10 medals ahead of the next closest country. And some of our 4th places with 4th by mere hundreds of a second.

But close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Klassen's 5 medal Olympics was astonishing and with her medal from Salt Lake, it makes her Canada's most successful Olympian, and she still should be a force in 2010. But what was amazing was Clara Hughes' gold. She made back about four seconds in the final two laps!

I used to train with Clara 11 years ago... and she's like a diesel engine. A long time to warm up, but once she's going, she's like a runnaway train (in cycling guys... get your minds outta the gutters)! I had tears watching the medal ceremony!

She is just awesome. To add to what you have said John, many here may not realize that she has won medals in both summer and winter Olympics. She won 2 bronze medals (I think) in Atlanta - amazing that 10 years later, she is still winning and in a totally different sport.
