New Daytona Waitlist

Please explain to me how the waitlist for the new daytona works ,,, for my first daytona i was 2.5 years waitlised until i got the call from Bucherer Basel back in 2003.

Now that there is a new model released, not all those who are waitlised go out and back to zero, i would expect if i was waitlisted for 1 or 2 years, i would be also on top of the list for the new model ... meaning that calling today and beeing put on top of the list is - either not possible, or just means that there is still 1-2 year waitlist for those who place their order today ....

what do you think or know

If you were placed on a wait list for a different reference or model, I can't imagine that has any bearing on being moved to the top of the list for a model that was just released.

Better call and put your name down again.

you think the dealer would say ... "sorry you waited for 2 years and now we dont make the model anymore and you were not listed for the new one ,,, tough luck but you are not on the list for the new one"

i had very good connections and i had to wait ,,, and no way i think they would have taken me off the list .... which by the way it did, because i was on the list before the new inhouse movend was released and they did not even ask me if this would impact my decision ,,, they only called me when the watch arrived, asked me if i was still intersted and if yes, when i would come in pick it up"

but of course there are always those who claim they were on the list and truth is they paid a high premium to have the watch first or sooner.

"Lists" are dealer ways to keep people guessing. Rest assured those who have purchased 5-6 watches from their AD will push others down on the fake 'list'.

I just texted my AD to be put #1 on the list for the new one, black or white. He said OK but he does not expect to get one until October. I have purchased 8 from them so hoping to go to the top?

Some dealers have lists. I was able to buy the original 16610LV and a white dial SS Daytona from different AD's as my first purchase at both.

Now granted if somebody with a history with the AD comes later and wants the watch, I expect and have no problem with them being put closer to the top. Business is business.

Precisely. I didn't even bother reaching out to dealers I haven't bought multiple pieces from.

ADs take care of good customers. Being the first to call means virtually nothing and my AD told me specifically they have a list of names and are arranging them based on prior purchases.

My sentiments exactly! AD's will not (at least reputable ones) make a client pay over premium for this watch, but they will arrange the list based on their best clients first, their next best next and then some jackwad who is calling all around the country putting his name on all 457 Rolex AD's "list" but has no history or relationship with any of them. The Trusted Sellers will be charging premiums for this one for sure! And they will be hard to find...

Agreed. It's common sense, and sound business for the dealer. They all know who "butters their bread".

I also learned over the years there are 3 lists:

1. People who buy 5-6 watches/year from that AD

2. People who put money down

3. Happen to have an extra one laying around now because they've been out so long and I don't have a bigger deal where I can use this watch as leverage...

If you don't put money down, you're most likely automatically on the 3rd list and don't even know it. (couple friends that worked at ADs enlightened me)

Yeah if the TRF sellers get there hands on it. Probably be similar or more in price if the wait list is long.

I know I will be the first to get one from my AD, that is solid. I would be surprised if they get one sooner than 4 months though.

The 'list'

Lmao

The customers who have spent the most $$ at the AD always get stock priority

Sure. Put your name down. But there is no 'list'

A list?

they will be readily available from every trusted seller on here. What this is going to do is really drop the price of the current SS Daytona.

I hope so. I've been waiting to join the Daytona club and would love to get one sooner than later!

AD today said they usually get the SS Daytonas in pairs with both dials represented. The earliest they have gotten a new Basel release was August. They are hoping to get a couple of sets in initially but when the next shipment comes is anybody's guess.

They weren't taking deposits yet. I imagine it'll take at least 12-18 months for my name to come up, anything before that would be gravy.

I think this watch will be harder to find than the BLNR was when it first came out. I'm guessing I will see one on my wrist in a couple years...

No. I think you can get it from the gray market soon if you want to pay the premium.

If you are lucky to get one from an AD, you will pay MSRP. If you want to get one from a grey dealer, you will pay ridiculous premium.

sadly for most of the watch fans there is only the grey market, because those who are only in it for the money get most of the watches before we can ... it is always like this ... first there is a small group (or not so small group of fans) and then the gold diggers get in and ruin it for them ... we love watches, they love the money they make by selling the watches to us. (PS I am not saying at all nor do i think that all who sell in the grey market are gold diggers - not at all, but many are and are only in for the money and could not care less about the watches ... I am sure you know what i am trying to say)
