42mm Explorer II Black vs White
I'm looking to upgrade an I was wondering what your take is on color choice. I currently have black and wanted to go white but my instincts are telling me black is the better choice being this is going to be my only watch. What do you guys think?

I have the white, but as an only watch I would probably go black. Either way, it's a great piece.

whether it's your only watch or one of a dozen, there is no "right" answer other than "buy what you like".
how old is your watch? service soon? you could flip the dial in that case, if you really want to change. probably less expensive than flipping. |

Had the black, thought about a white. Traded it for a Blancpan.

For legibility, definitely go for the white... The black looks a little more conservative since the contrast isn't as strong with the indices hands and dial. The white gold against the matte dial looks great.

If you already have the black, keep the black. If you want a change, & are going to change it, then go for white. I like the white a lot. Plus, there are a lot more black dial references to choose from than white. You might decide to add a black dial again at some point. ;-)

I personally love the polar but agree that if it is your one and only, black may be a better choice.

I prefer the white, but if it was going to be my only watch then I might lean black. Black dials are usually more versatile IMO, but the white would be my choice since I already have the standard black SubC date.

I had both versions, and was very happy with the black dial as it was a bit unique by having a matte finish.

I've owned both but if I were to get one again it would definitely be white. The dial really pops.

42mm Explorer II Black vs White
They're both great looking watches. I think for me since I like all Rolex sport watches in general and have a few, I just love black dials. I think you have to love black dials if you love Rolex sport watches.
Having said that, even though I also think the black dial looks better than the white dial on the Explorer, if I were to add an Explorer to my collection, I would definitely get the white. Why? Because I don't have a white and it would be different. Now if this was to be my first and only Rolex, then black it would be. Just my thoughts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
