My Explorer II, is about 4 years old. I bought it new from an AD here in Atlanta. It has worked fine up until now.
The watch will keep good time if it is on my winder or fully wound and sitting, but when I put it on my wrist after a couple of hours is stops. Never had this problem, I know it probably needs servicing, but it shouldn't be stopping. The first time this happened I wound the watch and put it back on my wrist and it stopped again after a couple of hours. Then I put the watch on the winder, and checked it for a couple of days. Kept fine time while on the winder, put it on the wrist and it stopped again. Confused.

Well, I think you know what is needed. Service. There is something not keeping the spring wound. You're losing power way to quickly. A service is the only thing that will tell for sure.

If you send it to Rolex, minimum of $500. If you find a local, qualified watchmaker, much less. They'll open it and diagnose for a small fee and let you know. Most like, just a minor piece that needs to be repaired.

If you send it into the RSC, they will probably insist on a full service..........I believe this is the way to go..

If you just take it somewhere and all they do is repair the slipping mainspring (or bridle or clutch or whatever), then you still have a 4 year old watch that should be fully serviced in a year or two....

Bite the bullet on this one, send it in for the full ride, and get back a fully functional watch that should be good for another 5 or ten years...

If you were just having it oiled and a simple cleaning Id say a local guy.
As its major work send it to RSC you will have the paperwork to show it was done
by Rolex and that will could help a collector decide on your watch instead of someone elses if you were to sell it.

Thats a shame thats happening so early!

It could be the rotor and reversors not working together therefore not delivering a full wind to the main spring. On a winder there is constant motion (depending on the winding program) but on your wrist you may not be moving as much as the winder

A full service will do the trick.

Talk to your AD, they may have a local watchmaker they use, you will save some $$$.
